Your Earth Energy Centers: The 1st 3 Chakras

In preparation for my Chakra Study Yoga Flow Workshop at Ramapo College of New Jersey on Fri. Oct. 9th at 6pm, I've created yoga art photography and written a bit on each chakra to ease one's understanding about the chakras, our energy body. The chakras are defined as 7 spinning wheels of rainbow colored light that are found at the base of the pelvis, run along our spine and up to the crown of our head. Since the chakras are energy they are sensed. This is where I feel art and a few words on each energy center can coax you into feeling what you experience in each of your chakras. In this post I'm focusing on the first three chakras found at the base of your pelvis, center of your hips and solar plexus. I like to call them your earth energy centers because once they are open and spinning your connection to everything you will need for your transformative journey home to your supreme self is found.

You will notice in my notes that each chakra corresponds to a different emotion that I like to interpret as a positive affirmation that you can say to heal and empower yourself. Also each chakra is associated with a different part of the body, element in nature, color and mantra.

As you review this post take in each image and description. Then observe what you feel and where you feel it. There is no wrong or right answer, just notice. This is how we heal and balance our chakras, by feeling and not critically thinking about them.

*Next week I will post "Your Energy Center that Balances Heaven and Earth": The Heart Chakra

Muladhara Chakra (pictured above) is the 1st chakra. Red is the hue and it sits at the base of the pelvis. It roots and supports everything you will need to survive on your journey home to your infinite self. The sacred syllable is the mantra LAM and the element is earth.

Healing Affirmation: "I am grounded, powerful, safe and strong."

Svadhisthana Chakra is the second chakra. It is orange in color and floats in the center of your hips. It governs your likes, dislikes and all relationships. VAM is the sacred syllable and water is the element that helps this energy flow.

Healing Affirmation: "I am a creator who is worthy of pleasure and love."

Manipura Chakra is the third chakra burning in the solar plexus. The color is yellow like the sun and the element is fire which ignites your desire to do what you love. Chant the mantra RAM and see your power expand.

Healing Affirmation: "I manifest my dreams as I connect to the universe."
