Yoga Teacher Training Reflection

I’m excited to share the insights and teachings from our recent YogaSix West Boca 200hr Yoga Teacher Training weekend session. We studied "Yogas Citta Vritti Nirodhah", a sutra from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras. Patanjali states that yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind. The sutra emphasizes the importance of mental control and the ability to discern truth from distortion.

When we still our mind, we can experience life as it is. We see through the clearest of lenses, undistorted by thoughts of good or bad, or mine or yours. We experience oneness or union with all, without separation from our inner divinity and the divine.

Yoga, in essence, is a system of practices that leads us to mental peace. It helps us to become the witness to the ever changing, fleeting and transient nature of our thoughts, rather than identifying ourselves with them. It's a journey of cultivating a witnessing presence and gaining awareness to experience life from a state of presence.

By practicing yoga and meditation, we can live a life that is less of a roller coaster ride, and more of a journey of enlightenment. We learn to see things clearly and understand them as they are, just like the wise sages of the ancient yoga tradition.
