Biography

I’m a creative & compassionate yoga & fitness teacher with precise & mindful style. It gives me great joy to guide people towards achieving strength, grace, & peace of mind, so they can live their best lives.

Since the late 80's starting at Spa Lady as a teen, I've guided people to move, breathe, & heal. My knowledge of the mind, body, & emotional connection is drawn from a lifetime of dance training as well as body building with New Jersey's best. In the early 90’s while studying art in College, I successfully competed as a lightweight in natural bodybuilding competitions & was featured in ESPN’s fitness show “Body Stars.” I was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor certified with the American Council of Exercise who founded, opened, & managed several wellness studios & gyms.
Finding a new way to heal and serve after 9/11, I received my yoga teacher training from Cyndi Lee's Buddhist inspired school, Om Yoga. Seeking yoga's wisdom, I've studied with numerous gurus such as Dada JP Vaswani & Art of Living’s Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. All of my yoga wisdom teachers share a similar sentiment and that is to find the answer to anything, you should always go into your heart.

My students range from the domestic Goddess to the CEO. In addition to the many lovely people I work with each week, I've coached by way of yoga, Joshua Bell, the violinist. I also rehabilitated the NBA's Alonzo Mourning post kidney transplant. Zo then went on to victoriously play with the Miami Heat. (Please see the link below to read Yoga International's article "Warrior 33" about Zo's yoga rehab) I've worked with the home shopping channel QVC, where I created fitness & Pilates video content to sell products as well as taught internationally with QVC to promote sales. At this time I created & produced a DVD series called “Yoga Wisdom for Tight Hips & Shoulders.” I have also been a wellness consultant for the “Today Show” & featured on Infomercials promoting health such as “Exercise Right for Your Blood Type, CableFlex, & Urban Rebounding.”

Prior to the 2020 pandemic while living in northern New Jersey, I taught yoga flow, workshops, & within the yoga teacher trainings at Birchwood Center for Yoga & Massage in Nyack, New York & at BambooMoves Yoga in Englewood, New Jersey. In 2020 BambooMoves Yoga zoomed classes & I gratefully taught online with BambooMoves until February of 2022. Also, for the past 10 years I have been training aspiring yoga teachers at Ramapo College of New Jersey. During 2020, Ramapo College's 200hr Yoga Teacher Training successfully went online and graduated teachers in both January of 2021 & 2022.

Today my family & I are happily living in South Florida. I am co-lead teaching YogaSx West Boca’s 200hr Yoga Teacher Training + in studio hot, slow flow, restore, & sculpt and flow weekly classes. I also livestream Yoga Flow, BodySculpting, & Surrender classes at my online studio at Union.Fit where I immediately store every class I livestream into my On Demand Class Replays Library so you can practice with me anytime & anywhere. I am also a featured teacher and content creator at Yoga International, an online yoga site. Being an artist & writer, I fondly continue to create artwork & write weekly posts in my lifestyle blog, Glamorous Yogini in addition to sharing Mini 20min Yoga + BodySculpting video content at Allison Egan Datwani's YouTube Channel
