Biography

Hridaya Mudra- The Heart Consciousness Mudra is an ancient hand gesture that helps in activating the heart and revitalizing the energy from and to the heart. By doing so, this gesture helps in nourishing the entire body through the heart.

I'm a creative and compassionate yoga and fitness teacher with a precise and mindful style. It gives me great joy to guide people towards achieving strength, grace, and peace of mind, so they can live their best lives.

Since the late 80's starting at Spa Lady as a teen, I've guided people to move, breathe, feel, release, center and heal. My knowledge of the mind, body, and emotional connection is drawn from a lifetime of dance training as well as body building with New Jersey's best. In the early 90's, I successfully competed as a lightweight in natural bodybuilding competitions and was featured in ESPN's fitness show "Body Stars." I was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor certified with the American Council of Exercise. Looking for a new way to heal after 9/11, I received my yoga teacher training from Cyndi Lee's Buddhist inspired yoga school, Om Yoga. Seeking yoga's wisdom, I then went on to study with numerous gurus such as Deepak Chopra, Dada JP Vaswani, and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. All of my yoga wisdom teachers share a similar sentiment and that is to find the answer to everything, always go into your heart.

My students range from the domestic goddess to the CEO. In addition to the many lovely people I work with each week, I've coached by way of yoga, Joshua Bell, the violinist. I also rehabilitated the NBA's Alonzo Mourning post kidney transplant. Zo then went onto victoriously play with the Miami Heat. I've worked with the home shopping channel QVC, where I created fitness and Pilates video content to sell products as well as teaching internationally with QVC to promote sales. At this time I created and produced a DVD series called "Yoga Wisdom for Tight Hips and Shoulders." I have also been on several TV shows and featured in infomercials such as "Exercise for Your Bloodtype, CableFlex, and Urban Rebounding." I was also a wellness consultant for the "Today Show."

Today I'm happily raising my two sons with my husband Amit as well as leading weekly yoga and fitness classes, seasonal workshops, and training aspiring teachers in yoga teacher trainings at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Birchwood Center of Yoga and Massage in Nyack, New York and Bamboomoves Yoga in Englewood, New Jersey. I also create artwork and write weekly posts in my lifestyle blog, Glamorous Yogini.
